On these Pages you will find Full details on how to Build CLaNZeRS Multi
Programmer Build5, especially designed with Pirate Sat Cards in Mind and Pic/Eeprom Hacks
such as DVD and Playstation.

The programmer combines a Full on Pic programmer Designed for programming Pic16C84 Pic
Chips, 12C508 Pic Chips, and 24C16/24C65 Eeproms. It also has a built in Smartcard
Reader Writer (Phoenix Ineterface). We used to sell these units fully built, but no Longer
do but for the Full Spec check out: Our Old Programmer Advert
The Programmer started out years ago based on the Henk Schear Design and
basically developed into a easy to use unit with no Fiddly Jumpers for choosing between
Different Sat cards that needed to be re-programmed.
Guyz Like Gerry Slevan Re-designed the Dos Software and The Cat In The Hat Designed the Windows95/98 Software that takes
full advantage of all the easy to use features and extras that have been added to the
simple programmer over the years.
Please remember this software is being put in the public domain
with no fee from the Authors so please do not Commercially Sell this Software or Abuse it
in anyway or future releases will not be made available.
We decided to release all the details on how to build this unit Public because
we do not have time to continue building these units on a hobby basis and judging by the
amount of emails we still get off people needing a programmer this seemed a good
alternative.
If you can use a soldering Iron and have a bit of common sense then you should have no
problems.
Sorry to say we are not going to support this unit at all, if you build it and it does not work or if it blows half the lights in your street, don't come crying to us!!!. In saying that as long as your joints are clean and you follow the instructions you should be okay!!!! There are help Pages and FAQ's for the programmer on Our Old Programmer Advert Page. This will also go for the software, if you find bugs in the programs then please post feedback in Newsgroups such as alt.satellite.tv.crypt to the Authors and please do not bombard them with Emails.
Okay now all that is over with, this is what you are gonna need:
1.) PCB
Click Here to view the Pcb Layout, or Download the original Artwork.
The artwork was all done in Adobe Photoshop and hence if you need a 1:1 Scaled printout
please use Photoshop. We will not be supplying it in any other format such as Gerber
because to tell you the truth, PCB Layout packages were never on my top 10 list of apps
and I don't have time to fart round re-laying it out!. In saying that if someone does want
to draw it up in a different format then please Email it to me and I will pop it up here
for other peeps to download.
I won't go into detail on how to etch your own PCB's as I think this is covered enough on the WEB, if un sure then do a search on the various search engines around or buy a book! Be warned it involves a fair bit of time, messy acid baths and alot of wasted PCBs if you don't get your mixtures correct!
If you don't want to make your own PCB and the demand is great enough then I will get a batch of 100 PCB's Made up from the Factory and Supply them. Please Email me feedback on this so if needed we can crack on.
2.) Components
Find Below a List of Components that are needed for the programmer. We have
listed them out with Maplin Part numbers and RS Part Numbers as this is easy for anyone in
the UK to obtain. Sorry if you do not have these companys in your Country But Hopefully
the Component Description Should help.
You will always get your Electronic Gurus picking apart the circuit and telling us all we
should of used these parts here and those parts there, but at the end of the day the
circuit works with whats listed and has done for years. But again we are open to
suggestions to improve this design. Please do not just run off and re-lay the circuit out,
stick your name all over it and release, pass the info back and we can improve it
together.

3.) Setting up and Instructions.
Okay if you have now built your unit, you will need 3 more things!!
1.) A good 15-18Volt AC/DC Power supply of at least 800ma (if you get stuck to
find one then 2 PP3 9volt batteries joined together should give a good 18volts).
2.) A Printer Lead to connect to the Pic Programmer Part of the Circuit.
3.) A 9pin straight through Serial Lead (Maplins Part VD73Q) to run the Smart Card
Reader/Writer.
Make sure your Computers Printer Port is set to Bi-Directional in the Bios and that it is set to Address 0378 if using the Dos Software.
For Full instructions on how to use the Dos Software you can download them here. There are no help files for the Windows programmer yet as it is still in its Beta Stages.
4.) Software
DOS
The Dos software was developed by Gerry Slevan and
was one of the first programs around to use a unique timing setup method to make it work
on any PC including PentiumII Computers.
It was also one of the first programs that allowed the 12C508 Pic chips to be programmed.
The software will work with most if not all popular Codes found on the net inclusing
hex16/hex8/bin etc .
Download ASSIMPLE 2.h
There are loads of programs arounf for the smartcard reader/writer interface,
but one popular use is to program MM2 gold card Eeproms, for this we use JC's Cardem and a
couple of batch files which you can Download here.
For more programs and utils either Check the Smartcard Reader Writer Page
or the Cop Card Page
WINDOWS
The Windows Software was Developed by The Cat In The Hat
and is now on Beta2, with Beta3 around the corner soon! It
It will run in Windows95/98 with no problems and has a excellant user interface. Full
install program included.
In the next release we hope to see smartcard reader/writer support plus alot of extra
features.
Download the Windows Software
5.) Thats it!!
Thats it really!!, like I said sorry we can not support you guyz on this unit, but hundreds have been sold and work with no problems at all. So give it a go and please feel free to send feedback to [email protected] but please no support questions!!!!
Cheers CLaNZeR
